School Newsletter August 31, 2007

Dear Parents,

We welcome back all the families whose children were enrolled in our school last year and extend a sincere welcome to all whose children are just entering our school community. We are beginning another year of shared responsibility in building Christian values and education skills in the young people God has placed in our care.

Your students and our teachers share time and space, mind and soul for at least five hours a day. Consequently, the Catholic school becomes a privileged place for the total formation of children. Minds are challenged, souls are nourished, and Christian principles set the standard for every effort undertaken in our total school program. Without question, parents are the primary educators of their children. As parents, it is our right and privilege to choose a school that will provide an education for our children. Because privilege and responsibility are inseparable, it then becomes a parent's duty to support the policies and decisions of the school, and to expect the same of the children. Teachers stand in loco parentis (in the place of parents). Because of this, students benefit most when parents and teachers work together. Your cooperation, your help, and your active interest are important and valued by your child's teacher.

As a faculty, we appreciate your ideas, your cooperation helping with many activities, and your support. Those of you who can take an active part in our home-school partnership by volunteering become role-models for other students as well as your own children. Whether you can be available a few hours each week or only occasionally, there are many opportunities for you to share in our activities. Our office or HASA (Home & School Association) officers can give details.

We count you, the parents of our students, as a treasure. With your prayers and support, we will make this school year a time of special achievement in the academic and spiritual growth of your child.

Yours in Christ,

Marsha Jordan, Principal
