Queen of Angels School Newsletter, September 7, 2007

Dear Parents,

Thanks for a great Back to School Night last Tuesday. If you were unable to attend, below are some important details for you to note.

  • ISTEP will take place September 17-28. We schedule all of our tests during the morning. We ask that you please do not schedule doctor or dental appointments during these times. Any missed tests must be made up and this creates scheduling difficulties for us.
  • Playground Fundraiser- Many thanks to Marie Vorndran for taking charge of the Walkathon last Friday. It was a huge success! So far, the children have brought in donations of almost $12,000. this combined with donations sent to my office amounts to almost $17,000! The drainage work has been completed and we now need to get that area seeded and covered so that grass can begin to grow.
  • Grandparents & Special Friends Day- Friday September 14, will begin with the celebration of Holy Mass at 8:30 am, followed by coffee and cookies, and classroom visitation. Please be sure to invite your grandparents or another special friend to this day.
  • We will be compiling a Student Directory which will sell for $2. Many parents have asked for this so that they can easily contact classmates of their children. If you do not wish to have your phone number listed, please contact the school office.
  • Please continue to follow our parking lot drop off and pick up policies. Remember that this is for the safety of all children. We also ask that you remember to check into the school office when entering the building for any reason. When entering or leaving the Activities Center following ANY kind of function, please do so only through the Foyer entry/exit. The side doors are marked "For Emergency Exit Only". They are not for general use as this causes a great loss of cooled or heated air. Thank you for following this procedure!
  • Any parent who wishes to volunteer in school or drive for a field trip must first complete a background check form, available in the office. This is to comply with the Diocesan Policy for all volunteers, and is an outgrowth of the Bishop's Charter for the Protection of Children. Forms are available in the school office.

Thanks for a great start to the school year. We appreciate all that you do!

Mrs. Jordan
